DIRECTORY:

Have you ever seen in supermarkets peppers stuffed with tuna? Well, those chili peppers are real cherry peppers! And here is also the recipe for cooking these tasty, delicious and succulent peppers: how to make tuna-filled peppers.

Over the years, chilli continues to take on great importance, given the great flexibility of use of its fruits, which are used in most of the world as seasoning, appetizer or as a simple essence, thanks to their strong taste and spiciness. These varieties, which have very ancient origins, were imported into Europe by the great Christopher Columbus in different shapes and structures. One of these crosses gave birth to a very well-known variety in Italy: the Cherry Pepper.

PLANT

The plant is of medium size, very resistant changes in temperature. It is easy to farm and for this reason it is planted everywhere, even on small balconies in small pots. It grows vigorous and compact, the fruits have a round-conical shape like a cherry, are red-coloured, with a diameter of 3.5-4cm with an excellent and sweet taste of medium-low spiciness. Red Cherry is indicated for storing spicy oil in jars or as a filling.

FARMING

The soil of a vegetable garden and the clay represent the perfect setting for this small plant, but inside a pot the capacity for growth is just as effective, and the rules to follow are very simple. We recommend transplanting directly into the ground from March to July when temperatures stabilize and in the greenhouse from September to February, with the need to heat the greenhouse if the internal temperature drops below 15°C. The peppers, even if they are erect-bushy, require a small support to reinforce the main stem. No interventions such as topping or other green pruning are needed. The optimal soil must be permeable, deep and fertile, rich in organic substance already decomposed. Sowing is recommended during the first few months of the year, while harvesting can be done from June to November. The plant is easily recognizable because it has small, but very numerous leaves and the structure is extremely compact.
