The fairs, festivals and events on the spicy chili theme in Italy have grown considerably over the past few years.
New events have been added along with the old classic ones almost in every Italian region, all based on the spicy chili theme.
What follows is a list of festivals that I personally know or that have been mentioned to me.
The dates have not yet been confirmed or communicated.
The only MUSEUM in the world, dedicated to His Majesty the chili.
It’s in Maierà in the province of Cosenza in the Calabria region. It is open every evening, from the 15th of June to the 15th of September, from 6 pm to 10 pm. It’s possible to visit the museum by booking, at different times as well. museodelpeperoncino.it
Probably the most known in Italy, organised by the academy of the chili, which comprehends events, meetings, tasting, daytime and evening entertainment on the city streets and along the sea shore. A 5 days long show to see at least once in your lifetime.
From the 5th to the 8th of September in the San Giovanni Bosco square, virtues, fun facts and recipes with chilies, the fruits that turns on your life! In the San Giovanni Bosco square, in the heart of Cinecittà organised by Karisma Eventi and the patronage of the Italian Academy of Chili of Diamante and the Roman delegation Ipse Dixit, from the 5th to the 8th of September a fiery event takes place in which hundreds varieties of chilies will be showcased and tasted, including the terrible Trinidad Moruga Scorpion, the Niagara Viper and the Carolina Reaper.

The chili festival of Torre S.Susanna (in Brindisi) is at its 10th anniversary. It offers excellent gastronomy, Beer Fest stand and chili plants from all over the world.
Side events, live artist performances and entertainment of any kind, dances and a market.
Concert area with the best bands from southern Italy, known all over the country.
For the little ones a kids area and a fun fair are also present.

Also known as “spicy heart of Rieti” is at its eight edition. Curated by Rieti Chili Association, it’s one of the most important spicy tasting event of the year. There are about 400 varieties of chilies from the most remote parts of the world that are showcased and available to be tasted in over 100 stands. You should go, I advise you to, it’s worth the trip!

In Ruffano (Lecce) takes place the spiciest event of the year.
Once more the MARU chili fair is back, the spiciest appointment of the Salento summer which takes place in the town centre of Ruffano. If you are a professional exhibitor and would like to take part use the link of the Facebook page from the MARU event to request details.

The Chili Day has been ongoing for the past 8 years in Viareggio with great attending and critics success.

Festival and Exhibition Market of Chili and Hemp which this year reaches its fifth edition and will take place in the squares of the historic centre of Jesi (AN).
As always there is going to be many exhibitors with their products based on Chili and Hemp, as well as workshops for adults and children alike, live music, popular dances and other surprises which will be revealed slowly! See you there!
In the very central Square of the Thousand the summer tour of “Chili Fair & International spicy Street Food” will begin, the event that is driving fans of spiciness crazy.
A real “Party” in honour of the “Prince of the Table”. The organisation of the Chili Fair with the support of the Italian Academy of Chili of Diamante, which granted its prized Patronage and the Coldiretti of Cagliari, wanted to start this tour right from Cagliari, considered in July to be an ideal destination for tourists and locals.
Moreover, the hoice of the seaside city, pearl of the Mediterranean was not accidental but desired as this territory in some way recalls the land of Calabria, where over the centuries the wise cultivation and dedication of farmers has transformed our Chili, brought by Cristoforo Colombo, the first fruit in the field of Italian excellence.
